Connecting your Smart Doorbell to an Electronic Chime

The Feit Electric CAM/DOOR/WIFI can operate with most mechanical and electronic chimes. For Doorbell transformer technical requirements view this article.

To connect your smart doorbell to an existing electronic chime, you will need to directly connect the wires from the chime box to the doorbell  When you are ready to start the installation, follow the instructions below. 

Note: Do not install the Power Kit (Below) If you have an Electronic Chime. You could compromise the doorbell.

  1. Shut off power to your doorbell and electronic chime at the circuit box or fuse breaker. Ring your doorbell to confirm that it is off. If you do not hear a sound, you can continue the install.

2. Slightly loosen the terminal screws at the rear of the Smart Doorbell.

3. Locate the wires leading from the existing chime box to the previous doorbell. Connect the wires to the terminals on the back of the Smart Doorbell, then tighten the terminal screws.
 

4. Connect the Smart Doorbell to the Feit Electric app, if it is not connected already. In the Feit Electric app, go to the settings menu of your Smart Doorbell by tapping the pencil icon on the upper right of the screen. Then tap Bell > Chime Type and ensure the chime type is set to "None".

Q: Why does my chime box chime non-stop?

A: There is constant power being sent causing the chime to ring continuously. Most likely, one of the wires is a constant hot wire. We advise hiring an electrician or purchasing a wireless chime if you are not comfortable with doorbell wiring.

Q: Why doesn't my chime box work after installing the video doorbell?

A: If your chime box does not chime after installing the video doorbell, please double check the wire connections. Once the wires have been checked, launch the Feit App and check the settings. Follow the steps below:

  1. Launch the Feit App.
  2. Tap on the Video Doorbell Icon.
  3. Tap on the Pencil Icon in the top right-hand corner.
  4. From the list of options, scroll down and tap on Bell.
  5. Tap on Chime Type and ensure the chime type is on Mechanical Chime.

Note: If the above steps did not work, the transformer is probably not enough to power up the chime box. Refer to the manual for the external power port specs.
