Additional tips for connecting my smart camera to Wi-Fi Using QR Code
This article provides step-by-step instructions and helpful tips for adding your Smart Camera to the Feit Electric app, including selecting the correct connection method, using the QR code, and optimizing conditions for a successful setup.
Step 1: To add the device, tap the plus (+) sign in the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 2: Follow the prompt to Add Device, then select Security & Cameras.
Step 3: Next, select Floodlight Camera.
Step 4: Select the QR Code method (this is the default connection method).
Step 5: Tap Confirm and then Next.
Step 6: Enter your Wi-Fi password to allow the device to connect to your router.
(Important: Do not enter your app password here.)
- The Green Circle allows you to switch your phone or tablet’s network from 2.4GHz to 5GHz.
- The Purple Circle lets you show or hide your Wi-Fi password as you enter it.
- (Note: Even if you enter the password incorrectly, it will still let you proceed to the next step, but verification happens when the device connects to the router.)
Step 7: When scanning the QR code:
- Make sure your screen brightness is turned all the way up to help the camera read the QR code.
Step 8: Begin by placing your phone right up against the camera lens, then slowly pull it back until it’s about 6 inches away. You can tilt the phone slightly up, down, or even side to side until you hear three audible tones.
- It’s helpful to shade the phone from backlighting, like sunlight, or from glare if scanning at night.
(Note: Some privacy screen protectors may interfere with scanning the QR code.)
Step 9: Ensure you are about 25 feet from the router before tapping "I heard the beep" on the Feit app.
- The device itself can be close to the router, but your phone should be at a distance to avoid interference from the 5GHz band, even if 2.4GHz is selected.
(Note: Some routers with smart band steering may override the 2.4GHz connection.)
Your device should now be connected!
