This article will describe how to connect your Feit Electric Smart Plug using the Feit Electric app. The same steps apply to the Smart Outdoor Plug and Yard Stake, Smart Indoor Plug, and the Smart Indoor Power Strip.
Note: Our smart devices work with both single-band and dual-band routers. If you have a dual-band router, please make sure the smart device is 10 to 15ft away from the router to avoid 5ghz interference.
Getting Started
- If this is your first time setting up a Feit Electric Smart Device, download the Feit Electric App from the Google Play or the Apple App Store (if you haven't done so already) and log in, or, register to create an account.
- Plug your device into the electrical outlet you would like to use. For outdoor plugs be sure the outlet is covered and outdoor rated.
- The indicator lights should be blinking rapidly showing the device is ready to be paired.
- Go to your Wi-Fi settings and connect your phone to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Then, open your Feit Electric App to start the connection process. Now you are ready to start the app connection process.
There are multiple ways to connect your smart bulb. The default mode is likely Bluetooth Mode.

Bluetooth Mode - the fastest and easiest way to set up one device at a time.

EZ Mode - use this method if you are pairing multiple bulbs at once or if you have problems with using Bluetooth.
- AP Mode - is an alternate connection mode if Bluetooth or EZ Mode are not successful

Step 1 - Open your Feit Electric App
Make sure that your smartphone's Bluetooth is on.
Step 2 - Add your Device
The app will automatically generate an Add New Device pop-up, tap Go to add to continue adding your Smart Device through Bluetooth Mode. Then, in the Select Devices to Add window, tap Color Lights or the + sign to continue. Remember to be sure the bulb is blinking rapidly indicating it is in pairing mode.
Note: The icon will change depending on the type of bulb you are adding.
Step 3 - Connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
Enter your Wi-Fi network's name and password, then tap Confirm.
Note: Be sure to double-check that you are connected to a 2.4GHz network.
Step 4 - Finish Connecting
Once you have successfully connected to a 2.4GHz network, the connection process will automatically begin. Wait for the wheel to reach 100% and for the confirmation screen to appear.
If you want to configure your Smart Wi-Fi Bulb to work with Alexa or Google Assistant, tap Use Alexa and Google Assistant and follow the on-screen instructions to set up your device further. If not, tap Done to complete the setup process and to start using your Feit Smart Wi-Fi Bulb.
EZ Mode - Use this method to pair multiple bulbs at one or if you have problems using Bluetooth Mode.

From the Feit Electric App's home screen, tap Add Device or the + sign at the top right corner of your screen.
Step 2 - Manually Add your Device
Tap Lighting in the left panel, then, tap Lighting Device to continue.
Step 3 - Select EZ Mode
Open the drop-down menu in the top right corner of your Feit Electric App, then, select EZ Mode. Tap Confirm and then Next to continue.
Step 4 - Connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
Enter your Wi-Fi network's name and password, then tap Confirm.
Be sure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Step 5 - Finish Connecting
Once you have successfully connected to a 2.4GHz network, the connection process will automatically begin. Wait for the wheel to reach 100% and for the confirmation screen to appear.

AP Mode - is an alternate connection method if Bluetooth or EZ Mode is not successful.
Follow the steps below or watch this quick video for assistance.
Step 1 - Open your Feit Electric App
From the Feit Electric App's home screen, tap Add Device or the + sign at the top right corner of your screen.
Step 2 - Manually Add your Device
Tap Lighting in the left panel, then, tap Lighting Device to continue.
Step 3 - Select AP Mode
Open the drop down menu at the top right corner of your App. Then select AP Mode. Tap Confirm then Next to continue.
Make sure that your Smart Bulb is SLOWLY flashing. If it isn't, turn the light OFF/ON 3 times until the light starts slowly flashing.
Step 4 - Connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi
Enter your Wi-Fi network's name and password, then tap Confirm.
Be sure you are connecting to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Step 5 - Connect to your Smart Bulb's Wi-Fi
A new screen to connect your mobile device to the hotspot will appear, tap Go Connect. Your phone will redirect you to its Wi-Fi settings.
Then, choose the network name that starts with "SmartLife" and then return to the Feit Electric App.
Step 6 - Finish Connecting
Once you have successfully connected to a 2.4GHz network, the connection process will automatically begin. Wait for the wheel to reach 100% and for the confirmation screen to appear.
Step 1: Get Ready for Set-Up
Before getting started you need:
- A smart device running iOS 11.0 and higher, or Android OS 6.0 and higher.
- A 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network
- Your Smart Outdoor Plug
Step 2: Connect to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Download the Feit Electric App
1. First, make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4Ghz network. The outdoor plug only operates on a 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi frequency and is not compatible with 5Ghz networks (in some cases you may need to set up a dedicated guest network on this frequency). Make sure that your phone is not using a VPN app in the background. If you are not able to see a 2.4 GHz network in your Wi-Fi listing contact your service provider or router manufacturer for support.
2. Download the Feit Electric App
3. Tap Register to create a new account and follow the directions in the app or Log in
Step 3: Set Up Your Smart Plug
1. Plug the Smart Outdoor Plug into any outdoor rated outlet. When the indicator light blinks rapidly, you are ready to connect to Wi-Fi. If the indicator light is not already blinking rapidly, press and hold the power button for 5 seconds. Open the Feit Electric app.
2. Open the Feit Electric app and click the "+" on the top right corner of the screen OR click on Add Device.
3. Tap Plugs, and then Outdoor Plug
4. If indicator light is blinking, press confirm.
5. Enter the password for your Wi-Fi network. Note: Make sure your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The Smart Outdoor Plug is NOT compatible with a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
6. Your Smart Outdoor Plug will now begin connecting. Note: If connecting fails, be sure you entered the Wi-Fi password correctly. If connecting still does not work repeat the previous steps or view help for other tips. You may also try using an alternate mode of installation called AP Mode. Watch the video here.
7. Once your device is added, tap the pen icon to rename, then tap save. Tap the back arrow, then tap done.
8. Your Smart Outdoor Plug is now ready to use.
Note: The Feit Electric Smart Outdoor Plug does not control other smart devices. When using your Smart Outdoor Plug, be sure your devices are turned on.
