Retrieving the IP or Mac address of a Smart Device
Through most cases, you can connect your Feit Electric smart device in the Feit Electric app without using the IP or Mac address. However, if you require it due to the way your network is set up, you can access details about a specific Feit Electric smart device in the Device Info section of the mobile app.
- Once the device is connected to the network, tap the device icon in the upper right-hand corner of the screen in the Feit app to reach the settings menu. Sometimes this will look like (...) or a pen icon depending on the smart phone device.
- Then select Device Info from the settings menu.
- Then you will see the Device Info page with more information. If you do not see the Mac Address and you need that information, you can try connecting the device using a Mobile Hotspot and then check the Device Info page.
- You will see the IP Address and sometimes you will be able to see the Mac Address.
- If the Mac Address is not visible and you need that information, you can disconnect the device and connect it using a Mobile Hotspot. Then if you select Device Info you should be able to see the Mac Address as well.
What if I need to recover the MAC address to connect to my network?
If you’re living in a complex with free Wi-Fi or a dorm on campus, and you’re having trouble connecting a Wi-Fi device, using your smartphone’s hotspot on iOS or Android could be a great solution. A hotspot lets you share your phone’s cellular data by creating a Wi-Fi network that other devices can connect to. If it’s more convenient or faster, you can also use someone else’s hotspot instead.
Note: You’ll need two devices for this setup—either two phones or a phone and a tablet with data service and access to your Wi-Fi router. One device will act as the router by creating a hotspot Wi-Fi signal, while the other device will run the Feit app to connect your Feit Smart device.
