How do I install the Feit Electric Ballast Bypass linear tubes?
Upgrade your old fluorescent lights with ease using Feit Electric’s T8 and T12 LED Linear tubes. Our type B linear LED tubes offer a simple solution, allowing you to operate your lights directly from the line voltage, saving both time and money.
Here's a simple guide to installing the Type B Ballast Bypass tubes:
Step 1: Start by turning off the power at the breaker to ensure safety.
Step 2: Remove your old tubes from the fixture by twisting and pulling them out.
Step 3: Take off the ballast cover to access the wiring and the ballast.
Step 4: Cut all wires leading to and from the ballast.
Step 5: Strip about 1 inch of the feed wires and the wires from both lamp holders.
Step 6: Group and attach one side of the lamp holder's wires to the line wire using a wire nut, and the other side to the neutral wire.
Step 7: Neatly group the wires together and replace the ballast cover, placing the fixture retrofit label on the hot side of the cover.
Step 8: Determine whether you need a T8 or T12 bulb by looking at the markings or comparing the diameter of the bulbs.
Step 9: Once you have the correct bulbs, align the L and N ends of the Feit Electric T8 Type B bulbs with your wiring.
Step 10: Insert the pins into the lamp holders and twist them until they stop.
Step 11: Finally, restore power at the breaker and enjoy the energy savings and convenience of Feit Electric LED Type B Linear tubes.
Tips:
- Ensure compatibility with your voltage: 120 volts for residential homes and 277 volts for commercial buildings.
- Follow local regulations and safety guidelines when handling electrical wiring.
- If you're unsure about any steps, consider consulting a professional electrician for assistance.
For Non-Shunted Fixtures:
Non-shunted fixtures require double-ended LED or fluorescent tubes. These bulbs have pins on both ends and operate seamlessly in non-shunted sockets. They are sometimes called "double-ended" bulbs and are widely used in industrial settings and professional installations. Non-shunted fixtures have separate, unconnected electrical contacts. Each contact operates independently, which is ideal for rapid-start or programmed-start ballasts.
